Want you air duct to run efficiently? We can help!
On this tips page we go over some of the most helpful ideas that will assist you in keeping your air duct working flawlessly for longer. Prevent more serious conditions from developing by following the advice on this detailed and informative page.
Note whether your dryer is taking longer to dry your clothing
Should you find that your clothes used to be completely dry with one cycle but now remain damp and require the dryer running for longer, this may indicate that the vent is clogged up and requires cleaning. Lint and other substances blocking the vent slows down the air flow, so it takes longer for the hot air to get to and dry your clothes. Not only is it a hassle, but it's wasting energy as well in the process.
Pay attention to strange smells while your dryer runs
If your dryer's vent is clogged up with lint and other materials, it can begin to melt from the high temperatures used to dry your clothing. This may lead to a fire, which is why it's important to note if there's the smell of burning and immediately turn off your dryer if there is. Refrain from using it again until you get everything looked at by an expert and the vent completely cleaned out of these potentially flammable materials for safety.
Give the HVAC outdoor unit enough free space to work properly
It’s a mistake to try to mask the unit by planting bushes or other plants around it or by using some kind of cover. Leave a clear area of around two feet on each side. This means no gravel, furniture or vegetation. There should not be anything hanging above the unit either.
